Ann Arbor's Westside Arthop - The weekend of June 10th, 2023.
I'm blessed and filled with gratitude to share these moments which will last a lifetime. Leading up to this showing, I had been asked repeatedly some iteration of the question "How do you feel?" and "Are you excited?"
Staring that question down I found myself unable to answer it for a time. "Excited? I'm observing a number of things but excitement is too underwhelming to describe it." Honestly speaking, moments like these are highly energetic. You gather all of the work that you passionately pour yourself into. You're given the opportunity to share all that you love with all the people you've come to love in one place, for a time, where it gathers to a pinnacle — it's a loving affair which transcends something as simple as mere excitement!
It is one of my highest honors that so many of those that I cherish came to support me. "I pour into my work with everything that is poured into me. I will always do my best humble myself to pour into you all the same way. It is reciprocated love. The infinite loop that makes this sustainable, joyful, and fulfilling. It is my hope that you all came to see— and feel that on this day. I love you, and I’m so deeply appreciative for the incredible people I’ve come to know."
In addition, every showing provides the opportunity for expansion and radical growth across multiple domains. The artworks themselves are already completed, then you assume the role of a businessman. There are dozens of logistical decisions that have to be made (with confidence) in the realm of marketing and promotion, order placement, inventory, layout, web and social updates. It stretches you. And afterwards there is more of you. More of you which is more confident, capable, and competent.
At this show I was joined by 3 other phenomenal artists, Kirsten Elling, Nancy Bulkley, and Anna Strong at stop #5 over on 502 Soule.
